Hypnotherapy & Trance

Hypnosis is a different state of consciousness which we can naturally enter, so that, for therapeutic purposes, suggestions for beneficial changes may be given directly to the unconscious mind.

The unconscious is both a reservoir of unrecognised potential and knowledge, as well as being the unwitting source of many of our problems.

A hypnotic experience is a conscious experience, usually pleasant and relaxing, during which, the client is aware and in control throughout.

So rather than being unfamiliar, hypnosis can be defined as simply an extension or amplification of the normal state of awareness; when the body remains relaxed while the mind goes into a highly focused state.

No one can be hypnotised against their will, and even when hypnotised, a person can reject any suggestion made to them by the hypnotist.

The experience had by each person is unique, and will depend on a number of factors: previous experience, expectations & motivation to name just a few.

Even if you have experienced it, hypnosis can be difficult to define, firstly because it takes place within the internal environment and we don't have the language to communicate it fully; and also because each person's experience of hypnosis will differ each time.
